2021-2022 updates as of Sept 20 2021

Vaccination mandates are broken into 2 areas: Entering the Arena (Municipality mandated), and Playing Hockey (OMHA mandated).   OMHA have confirmed no change to the original policy.

 
SUMMARY:
12-17yr Players/Goalie, Timekeeper, Referees, volunteer:  
-You do not need to show vaccination proof to get into the arena
-Full vaccination is required to play/participate in hockey this season by October 31, 2021

18+ Coach Staff, Volunteers, Ice officials:
-Proof of full vaccination, as well as photo ID needs to be shown at the door prior to entry to the arena (photo ID or any identification confirming name and date of birth) (effective Sept 22nd)
-Full vaccination is required to play/participate in hockey this season by October 31, 2021

12+ S
pectators: (Effective Sept 22nd)
-Proof of full vaccination, as well as photo ID needs to be shown at the door prior to entry to the arena (photo ID or any identification confirming name and date of birth)

Note: full vaccination includes the 14days from 2nd vaccination

 

OMHA Vaccination policy

  • Link to full OMHA policy can be found here.  OMHA, and our Municipality have the ability to add additional mandates on top of what the Government provides, and therefore we must follow these guidelines.
  • Policy applies to:
    • Players born in 2009 or earlier
    • Players turning 12 during the hockey season once they become eligible/have bday (ie. Jan-Apr bdays) (more specifics on this tbd)
    • Team and Game Officials (Coaches, Trainers and Managers, referees, linespersons, timekeepers, etc.)
    • Association Officials (minor hockey association directors, officers, executive and staff)
    • OMHA Officials (directors, officers, executive and staff, including hockey development personnel)
    • Volunteers
    • Instructors (third parties engaged by Associations or Teams (e.g., power skating, goaltending coaching)
  • All Affected Persons are required to be Fully Vaccinated (i.e.: including the 14-day period after receiving their completed dose) by October 31, 2021 or earlier

  • Accommodation to be submitted to OMHA for approval directly via HERE.  You are required to advise the Newcastle Hockey Board results of the OMHA review.

  • Board members will ask to see proof of vaccination. Acceptable documents include paper or digital copy of vaccine receipt, medical record signed by Dr with info, or vaccine passport (once available)

Municipality Guidelines:

(effective Sept 22) 

  • 12-17 coming to participate in a practice/game do not need to show proof of vaccination to enter the arena
  • 12+ not participating in a practice/sport must show proof of full vaccination and corresponding id at the door prior to entry (photo ID or any identification confirming name and date of birth)

Covid Guidelines:

  • Layout of season will look similar to 'normal pre covid' times 
  • Team sizes will be back to our normal
  • Games (normal 5v5 / pathways defined) will take place within our normal local league (Clarington, Orono), and for Rep in the Victoria Durham Loop
  • Tournaments will be allowed (with some restrictions to be detailed at later time)
  • Rep program allowed (specific teams pending registration), tryouts will be later Sept - more details to follow
  • Kids will continue to have practice, games
  • Arena protocols (as of Sept 20)
    • Changerooms will be open to use
    • arrive 30 min prior to ice
    • Screening required prior to entry
    • Masks must be worn inside building (not on ice)
    • 1 spectator / child
    • designated entry/exit
