Newcastle Minor Hockey is excited to announce more skills development sessions with Josh Barker. As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and enhancing player abilities, these sessions are designed to cater to all skill levels, from Local League to Rep, and are open to both skaters and goalies.
These new sessions will be focused on shooting and scoring. There will also be a dedicated Goalie coach for the full two hours.

Josh Barker, a High Performance 1 trained coach, has been shaping the future of hockey talent since 2013 in Clarington. His expertise and passion for the game are evident in the dynamic drills and training methods he employs. Whether it's fine-tuning offensive strategies or strengthening defensive tactics, Barker's sessions are a wellspring of knowledge and skill enhancement. It's not just about physical training; these sessions are a golden opportunity for players to boost their hockey IQ under the guidance of a seasoned coach.
Tailored Training for All Ages
We've organized the sessions to accommodate various age groups:
Thursday, January 18th @ Newcastle Memorial Arena
- 5pm-6pm U9/U11 (2013, 2014, 2015): Shooting and scoring skills, goalie coach.
- 6pm-7pm U13/U15/U18 (2012-2006): Shooting and scoring skills, goalie coach.
All skaters are $20/session
All goalies, regardless of age, get both hours for $20 (2 hours for $20).
Registration Details:
- Eligibility: Open exclusively for Newcastle Stars registered for the 2023-2024 season.
- Process: Simply fill out the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM and select your preferred time slot.
- Fee: Players $20/session, Goalies $20 for 2 hours, payment by e-transfer (details on registration form).
