The U13s didn’t know what to expect
in their second game of the season and their first on the road. An unfamiliar
barn, an evening game—who knew what they’d be facing? The early game was back
and forth. Strong defensive play from Denver Griffin, Bennet Graham, Lukas
Kovacs, Nicholas Danylyshen, and Hawkin Ross kept things scoreless.
Your Stars took the advantage in
the first period, however, as forward Lukas Munns streaked from the wing and
buried the first marker of the game BAR DOWN! That gave the Stars confidence, and
they needed it with penalty trouble they got into in the second. Munns wasn’t
finished by any stretch. Lucas turned on his jets while on the penalty kill and
tallied a sweet short-handed goal—his second of the game. We had Sturgeon on
their heels. We tried to take that score home, but it wasn’t to be. With a
flood between the second and third, Sturgeon was able to regroup and catch
their wind. Another tight period followed, but Sturgeon was able to get the
equalizers and send the game into a tied final. The Stars have Millbrook
visiting Rickard this Thursday at 5 p.m. where Lucas Armstrong takes the net in
surely another great U13 game! Come on out and cheer our Stars on. GO STARS!
