The battle of the Stars continued
Monday night with a late game tilt between Newcastle and Millbrook. After their
first loss against Newcastle, Millbrook had a point to prove and prove it they
did. They stormed out of the gate, scoring three goals past L. Armstrong who got
his second straight start for Newcastle. Penalty trouble and some personnel shuffling
contributed to the quick lead by Millbrook, as Newcastle was hit by seasonal
illnesses and game-time adjustments had to be made.
Your stars tried to mount a comeback, however, with sniper Lucas Munns almost
doing it himself! Lucas Munns, incredibly, scored three goals himself for a
third period hat trick! It was a tense close to the third period with your Stars
locked in a 4-3 battle surging for an equalizer. Kudos to Millbrook, however,
who weathered the storm and held the hungry Newcastle team off in the dying
seconds of the game. With the loss, the U13 Stars are now 2-1-1.
The U13s travel to Barrie this weekend to
participate in their first tournament of the season. With luck, the Stars will
take this defeat and use it to fuel their play this weekend. The next regular
season game will see your Stars travel to Lindsay on November first where they
take on the very strong Muskies. It should be a great game! GO STARS!
