Your Newcastle Stars U13 met the
Brock Wild for the first time this season in a Saturday night game at Harmen
Arena, Oshawa. Despite being short scorers due to illness, your Stars tried to
get another win in the win column. Unfortunately, the Starts just couldn’t grab
a win falling to the Brock Wild 7 to 4.
Credit to the Stars who didn’t just
mail the game in after falling behind early in the game 3 to 1. Brick Wall
Brennan Haslam made some excellent saves despite getting too many shots in the
contest. Often, Wild defencemen were left uncovered which made it easy for them
to shoot often from the point and with great accuracy. Some positives from the
loss included leading Star’s scorer Lucas Munns who banked ANOTHER hat trick to
his tally of hatties. “Sniper” Munns is quickly becoming the most dangerous
scorer on this year’s squad. When he breaks free and heads to the net, tendys
cringe in anticipation. Another notable
mention is that Talon Ross found the scoresheet too, in a very good individual
effort. This is Talon’s second goal of
the regular season, not including the goals scored in our first tournament. Young
Lucas Kovacs is also coming into his own as a reliable, stalwart defender. Kovacs,
a big strong defender, played an excellent game saving a couple of Wild
breakaways. His tenacity and hustle will be needed down the stretch.
