Spring Tryouts for U11, U13, U15 & U16 | Fall Tryouts for U18
The Newcastle Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce REP team tryouts for the 2025–2026 season. We invite all eligible players to attend and showcase their skills in a fair, structured, and development-focused environment.
🔷 Tryout Process
Player evaluations will be conducted by a panel of neutral, qualified evaluators and coaches. Final team selections are approved by the head coach. Players will be assessed on:

Technical ability (drills, skating, puck handling, shooting, passing)

Game sense and team play (during scrimmages)

Respect, effort, attitude, and discipline – on and off the ice
Player releases may occur following the second tryout session.
🔷 Registration & Eligibility

All players must register with Newcastle Minor Hockey and book a tryout through Spordle (HCR).

Ensure your HCR profile is up to date.

Tryouts are open to ALL PLAYERS under the OHF Open Border Policy (U10–U18, all divisions: AA, A, B, BB).
💵 Cost: $20 per player, per skate payable in cash at the door
📍 Location: Iroquois Park Sports Centre – Pad 6
🕧 Please arrive 30 minutes early to check in and receive your tryout jersey.
✅ Attendance is mandatory for evaluation fairness. If a session must be missed, please contact the head coach directly to request an exemption.
Jerseys will be provided at each skate and must be returned after.
Full equipment (including neck and mouth guards) and a personal water bottle are required.
🔥 New for 2025–26: U16B Full-Contact Team (2010)
We are proud to introduce a dedicated U16B team this season — a single-year, full-contact program designed to bridge the gap to U18. With 8–9 teams expected in the Vic Durham loop (4–5 from Vic Durham, 4 from the East), this marks a significant development opportunity for 2010-born players.
