The Newcastle Stars executive is looking for new members for the 2021 - 2022 season!

If you are interested in volunteering your time to the local hockey community, please consider the following positions.

The deadline to apply is June 15th, 2021.  

All candidates must have endorsement form an existing board member. All candidates must attend the virtual AGM in June 2021. Date TBD.

Positions that are up for renewal this year (2021-2022) are:


OMHA Representative

  • ensure the NVMHAI is represented at all meetings of the OMHA and Victoria/Durham league or any other rep league NVMHAI may belong to
  • advise the Board of changes that may affect the operation of the NVMHAI
  • obtain appropriate coverage of all insurance policies for the NVMHAI
  • transfer information between the OMHA and NVMHAI
  • carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or the President
  • liaise with the Registrar for all Rep player eligibility requirements


Equipment Manager
  • responsible for all maintenance on all equipment belonging to NVMHAI & keep a yearly inventory
  • present a list of required purchases for coming season in the form of a budget
  • obtain three quotes for purchases required and present to Board
  • assign and distribute all jerseys, pucks and equipment to all coaches or asst. coaches
  • collect all equipment at end of season & carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or the President

Social Media & Website Content Manager
  • maintain, update and upload all NVMHAI’s communications to the NVMHAI’s website & Facebook
  • work with executive members to update site
  •  update rosters & team info on site
  • create/update fillable forms and monitor data
  • update/maintain the "shareable drive"
  • be the "email support" for all executive board members
  • monitor and work with team managers to help them run their team page effectively
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or the President

Administrator

  • coordinate and record minutes of monthly board meetings
  • monitor emails, send out emails to association, coaches, manager, etc.
  • carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or the President

Ice Convener (Scheduler)

  • submit yearly ice requests and sign contract with the Arena Board
  • submit ice schedules for games and practices to the Board, the Arena Management and coaches at the start of the season and update when necessary
  • review ice bills – submit to Treasurer
  • disburse any unused ice
  • work in conjunction with the CRHL Ice Scheduler, OMHA Rep (with regards to scheduling) or any other league
  • carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or the President

Head Trainer

  • Have an understanding of the OMHA return to play protocol
  • Support team trainers with questions about return to play and other trainer responsibilities
  • Receive injury notifications and track return to play protocol is followed
  • Take inventory of the first aid kits at the beginning of the season to ensure they are fully stocked
  • Distribute first aid list to all team trainers
