Collective Message for Parents & Spectators
Submitted By Sarah Camacho on Thu 11 24, 22
A joint message from the Clarington Thunder, Orono Leafs and Newcastle Stars.

The executive board from the Clarington Recreational Hockey League (CRHL) has seen a disturbing increase in bad behaviour from parents and spectators at CRHL games.

Our governing body, the OMHA, has a Code of Conduct that everyone involved in hockey including players, coaches, executives, officials, parents and spectators must abide by.

Parents and spectators must understand that they represent their own centre but also the CRHL as a group and bad behaviour reflects on every one of us.

It is very important that we be clear about the consequences of bad behaviour.  The CRHL Rules & Discipline Committee has the jurisdiction over not only players and coaches but also parents and spectators.  Possible discipline for behaviour that goes against the Code of Conduct can range from being ordered to retake Respect in Sport - Parent Program to a complete ban from all arenas during CRHL games and practices.    Parents and spectators must understand that there will be no warnings issued.  The OMHA and the CRHL take this issue very seriously.

The CRHL would like to thank the majority of our parents and spectators who come to the arena day after day and support our players and teams in a positive and appropriate way.  Unfortunately, the alarming rise in these incidents has required this joint message to be sent out.

The link to the OMHA Code of Conduct is below for your reference.

Thank you from the CRHL, Clarington Thunder, Orono Leafs and Newcastle Stars boards!
