updated for 2024-2025 season

NVMHA is a B center. Per OMHA rules you or your player may be eligible to play Junior/AAA/AA/A in another center depending on their birth year.

The process generally looks like this:
  1. Make sure you are a Newcastle Resident (NEW Newcastle Residents complete the player transfer process)
  2. Fill in the online Permission To Skate Form
  3. Await email from NVMHA with approved PTS form (check your spam folder!) These will not be provided until April.
  4. Attend tryout at other center and bring the approved PTS form
  5. If unsuccessful, complete registration for this hockey season with the NVMHA to claim your held registration spot

Please note you may require multiple PTS forms for each center you plan to attend evaluations.

AAA U10-U18 (2007-2015)
No restrictions on which AAA center you can try out for but the North Shore Whitecaps are the closest center. If you are unsuccessful at the North Shore Whitecaps tryouts, please see North Shore Whitecaps to obtain your waiver to tryout out at another AAA center.

Visit the North Shore Whitecaps website for all tryout dates, costs and information

Please note: Your child can only attend ONE (1) AA CENTER or ONE (1) A CENTER, NOT BOTH – This is an OMHA mandated rule!

There are no restrictions on which AA you can try out for but Clarington Toros and Northumberland Nighthawks our closest centres.

Once you have the authorized PTS form, your child can only attend one (1) AA center.
You can only attend AA or A, not both (OMHA-mandated rule).

A (2007-2013)
There are no restrictions on which A Center you can tryout for but it MUST be an "A" base center. Our nearest A centers are Quinte and Orillia. (NOTE: Centers like Clarington and Northumberland are "AA" base centers) Please check the OMHA website for more details on center status.

Please visit the website of the center you wish to tryout for as costs vary from center to center.
