Game play at the Novice age-group and below will be Cross/Half-ice effective 2019-20

Programming in the Ontario Hockey Federation, which Ontario Minor Hockey is a member, will be implemented as follows: 

  1. Effective 2017-18 - Game play for the Initiation age-group (5 & 6 year-olds) will be Cross-Ice
  2. Effective 2018-19 - Game play for the Minor Novice (Formerly Tyke) age-group (7 year-olds) will be Half-Ice. 
  3. Effective 2019-20 - Game play for the Novice age-group (8 year-olds) will be Half-Ice during the first half of the season and transition to Full-Ice during the second half of the season.

The Toros AAA Novice Development Program-
**NEW 2019-2020**

AAA Novice Tryouts start on May 11, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, May 13 and May 16 – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at South Courtice arena.  Please check the CMHA website (https://claringtontoros.com/Pages/1011/Tryout_Schedule/) to confirm what time slot you should attend - this will be done alphabetically. 

-Newcastle residents are not required to register online in advance.  Please register at the desk the 1st day of tryouts.
-Players must attend 2 out of the 3 tryouts.  There is a $20.00 fee for each skate (regardless if you are in attendance).
-Online Releases - a release code will be provided upon registration. 
-Only 2011s can try out.  2012s are not permitted!!  
-2012s are asked to check the website for information relating to a separate development program. 

Players

51 Players will be selected

Newcastle and Orono players MUST be in the top 5 to make this program and will automatically be awarded a position on the AAA team.

Season

The season will be broken down into 2 instructional seasons

1st – September to January – during this time the players will be developed. 
2nd – January to March  – during this time the players will be playing games.  Games will be played with other centers.
Ice time for these kids will be scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.  There will be other days which have not been determined. 

Financials

Standard Registration with CMHA.

Additional Fee of $1,900.00 which will include ice, games, refs and timekeepers, track suites, jerseys, socks and insurance.  Players are to cover their own on ice equipment (skates, helmets, pants, etc.).
Any additional costs will be determined on the team you have been selected to play on.
