Stars Rep Academy: U8 and U9
Welcome parents and aspiring young stars to the U8 and U9 levels of the Newcastle Stars Rep Academy! This detailed guide will provide you with everything you need to embark on an exciting journey towards excellence.
2024-2025 Interest and Evaluation Skates Schedule
Interest Skates (optional):
These skates are optional and are offered as a chance for players to get back in the groove before evaluations. Interest skates are $20 at the door. Coaches will run players through a series of drills targeted at getting the players familiar with all hockey movements and skills.
DATES:
Monday April 22nd - Rickard Pad A
5-6pm - MD8 Interest Skate
6-7pm - MD9 Interest Skate
Thurs. April 25th - Rickard Pad A
4-5pm MD8 Interest Skate
5-6pm MD9 Interest Skate
Evaluation Skates (mandatory):
All evaluation skates are mandatory and are $20 at the door. Exceptions will be given on a per-player basis, please contact [email protected] to obtain an exception for any date.

4-5pm MD8 Evaluation Skate
5-6pm MD9 Evaluation Skate
Wednesday May 1st - South Courtice Arena
4:30-5:30pm MD8 Evaluation Skate
5:30-6:30pm MD9 Evaluation Skate
All sessions require players in full gear including sticks.
Cost and Fees
As stated above all interest and evaluation skates are $20, cash, per session. Someone will be collecting fees at each skate.
Stars Rep Academy Team will be a combination of the NVMHA Registration Fee, paid upon registration to Newcastle Minor Hockey, and the Rep Academy Team Fee, which will be collected by the team manager when your player is selected.
Team Fee: As this is REP Hockey there will be a fee additional to registration to cover the additional ice times, gear and team events. All attempts will be made to keep costs as low as possible and costs can be offest by successful team fundraising throughout the year.
Eligibility
- Newcastle residents and any resident from a center that does not have U8 or U9 MD locally.
- Must register for Evaluations separately from Newcastle Stars Registration
